Chapter Nine

Queen Allison was another blonde-haired blue-eyed bombshell, and quite beautiful enough to give Carmen Fiera some competition. Of course, she was far more regal and more reserved in her body language, than the confederacy councilor’s arm candy and mistress.

The only other one present at the head table when we were escorted in besides the nine of us and the queen, was the prime minister. He had black hair, gray eyes, and a medium build. There were also four armed guards at the entrances, and a number of servants to refresh our wine glasses and deliver our food.

There were six other tables in the room, filled with various nobles and representatives.

It took a while to get through introductions as we sat down, and the queen seemed a bit disengaged from the entire process as the prime minister took care of it.

The head table was a square shape, and each of the four groups claimed a side. We were seated across from the queen, with the confederacy to our left, and our dubious allies against them to the right.

It was just a couple of minutes in, and Evangelina was already driving me crazy with her hand on my leg, pushing propriety about as far as it could go without breaking it, as per her orders. She was coming as close as possible to my cock without actually touching it, and trying to act reserved while actually looking around in vapid curiosity. It was an act of course, and a somewhat successful one as Traven James gave me a knowing smile, like we were bonding over the arm candy we’d brought along. It made me feel a little dirty actually, but I nodded back politely.

What she was really doing of course, was assessing everyone while acting that way, and I did my best to stay focused as well, but it wasn’t easy. She was very distracting. I hated the idea, but the scandal at home which they no doubt knew about, would only reinforce her role’s believability. Something I was sure Fiona had considered but hadn’t said out of concern for how I’d take it.

Allison said, “Welcome, all of you, to New Australia. Please enjoy our hospitality tonight, and we will reserve business for the morrow. I will only tell you it will be joint negotiation, I have no intention of selling to just one of you and risking an interstellar war, nor will I initiate a bidding war. So be prepared for that. I’ve also arranged tours of the new fabrication facility and a demonstration that I think will remove all doubt of our achievement. Those will be of a private nature, separately for each of you.

“We are proud of our achievement, and we believe it will usher in a new era of peace and cooperation as we make our corner of the galaxy a little smaller. A new era of renewed and deeper exploration.”

Fiona raised a glass, “Thank you, your majesty, for this opportunity,” then to the rest of the table, “A toast, to our host’s vision and hope for the future.
